Description

Rocky island rises out of murky, gray reflective water. The pointed end (left foreground) is marked with navy and red streaks in gray. As it progresses to the right, the grays become lighter and grass emerges. Other growth, in rust, grows nears the water. Three trees with thin trunks and branches (one left center, two center) have scarce foliage at various intervals. A staunch wood house on a tall foundation sits at right center. Behind and below it, the end of another house and buildings are visible at as well as the top of another tree. The mainland is visible at right and left of island. It has a rocky shore with trees above it. The sky has brighter patches of yellow, orange and blue but is predominantly cloudy with dark gray and white clouds as if a storm were approaching.

General Notes

Note

This is one of 25 paintings used in the 2008 exhibit "A Period of Perspective - The Art of Gertrude Penfield Seiberling" in the Music Room at Stan Hywet. The majority of these paintings were not framed, and some weren't on stretchers. Thus, new frames were added for the exhibit by Akron Center for Art & Framing, 1915 W. Market St, Akron, OH.
