Dear Gertrude-
You don’t know how sorry I was to hear about your accident and not be able to see you.
It doesn’t seem like Hessel not to have you here.
However I am so glad to know you are getting along so nicely.
I have been in hospitals a number of times and most people think I am queer when I tell them I have always enjoyed myself.
It is a wonderful place to rest and I think with the strenuous life most of us lead now a days a rest is a good thing.
It seems too bad you had to have a rest via a broken arm but often times such things are blessings in disguise.
[Illegible] and I came last Friday and are having our usual delightful time.
Saturday night we went to the Chase Camp to dinner. A rain spoiled the bonfire but we had a nice game of bridge in the cabin. Sunday we were at Shepherds to dinner and last night Frank, Irene, Midge + Karny were here to dinner. We had Ruth’s famous white fish – [illegible] – and then bridge until two oclock when the guests departed.
I think Frank looks very much better than when I last saw him.
[Illegible] and I are leaving for home a week from today. You know we had had two weeks at the Morris camp – Hulbert Lake – before we came here.
How fortunate I am to have so many wonderful friends!
They always come near the top of the list when I count my blessings and you + Frank have a place all your own in my heart.
You have always been so kind to me and my children, and I appreciate it more than I can tell you.
Be a good girl and mind your doctor and nurses. It [illegible] to do it.
With all good wishes for a good recovery and a heart full of love
Devotedly
Annette
