Letter: Grace Seiberling Chase to Gertrude SeiberlingEntry/Object ID
A 2025.12.b1.f13.2Description
The letterhead says "Pine Mountain Settlement School, Inc., Pine Mountain, Harlan County, Kentucky" in printed black ink. Above it on either side is a list of the Executive Committee and Treasurer in small font.
The writer (Grace) is letting Gertrude know about her experiences at the Settlement School. At the beginning she mentions Franklin and Fred & Henrietta. She talks about going on a horse-back tour of the mountains. She talks about singing and receiving compliments from a child from the school. Grace mentions "Uncle William" dying the day before and describes the procession. She says she plans to stay longer to attend his funeral. She says she is glad she could stay with Franklin (it seems like she is implying that Franklin was at the school and she was visiting him, however, we are unsure of this).Subject Person/Organization
