Letter: Katherine Bruot to Gertrude SeiberlingEntry/Object ID
A 2025.12.b1.f10.8abDescription
The writer starts by saying how nice it was to see Gertrude and asks if the letters originally sent to London would be returned and sent to Akron. She then tells Gertrude that if she is interviewed to mention the letter writers' return, that she has spent the winter working with Leschetizky, and the work she has been doing in New York. She mentions that Sammy is not going back to Europe until January, so they might do concerts together. She mentions that Mr. Von Ende is working towards his "directors stick". The writer mentions wanting to bring back a souvenir for Gertrude from Wien but that she didn't so she has found something for her in New York; she also got something for Franklin. She mentions that all her lessons are paid for until June 17 and that Beatrice is paid for her rooms. She explains that she has plenty of money to get home and that she will use the extra to fix up her clothes. She ends by saying that she will probably think of something else to tell Gertrude so letters might become numerous.
The end of the letter has an address, "508 W. 139 St., Tel. Audubon 3595, Audubon".Subject Person/Organization

Using ancestry.com, we were able to find that Serge Kotlarsky's (1893-1987) original name before changing it was Samuel. He was a famous violinist.
Additionally, some preliminary research on a neighborhood of New York City called Audubon--There is an Audubon Park Historic District located within 5 blocks of Washington Heights. However, the address on the letter does not fit within that 5-block area. Unsure of the relevance of "Aududon" in the letter's address.Create Date
