My dear Gertrude Just a word – I found Irene’s little slippers tucked away in Helens [sic] closet – a brown stocking + one pair black stockings with pink dots—I sent them to 702 University ave Ithaca + also note to her advising her that they were sent— Today I had a letter from Margaret Miller she said Irene had failed to get two pacels [sic] that were sent to her here – I am sorry I do not know where the parcels were sent from, for I could write to the sender + have them traced in that way. Possibly they were not sent in one case + this is a large house – There are forty nine separate apartments and a parcel sent to a stranger in no one’s case would have a sad time finding its owner - I hate to think it is lost - + that it is something Irene needs for her Ithaca celebration When you can find from her where they were sent from - let me know please – We are having a terrible storm here - the horses as usual are having a sorry time. - the police men’s horses have taken to the chain which makes them very sure footed. Have you ever had “Letters of a Diplomats Wife”? and [illegible] Letters of a Diplomat’s Wife”? Well - I won’t bother you any longer- With much love yours L.V.B.
