My dear Mrs Seiberling:-
I am enclosing press notice of the recital yesterday and they do not exaggerate it a particle.
It certainly was a [illegible] the most artistic, and intensely interesting thing I have ever heard. Mr Hitchcocks [sic] way of giving it – in the style of a reading – was something new and Mr Gallup played the score as the recital went on. It really gave one the impression of seeing the entire opera as well as hearing the score. It was indeed wonderful and I do wish you could have heard it. Mr Hitchcock requested that there be no program so of course we had none. Mrs Randell said today that she had written you, so I presume she will have given you the details of the lecture itself which no one could do so well as she so Ill [sic] will only speak of my own enjoyment of it
Thank you very much indeed for the check. It helped me out of a very uncomfortable situation as I was short about #1500 We are getting out a letter which I hope will bring in enough to repay you shortly. Otherwise everything is going nicely
I arranged for the candles and several of us went over early and attended to the chairs candles etc. The house was so perfectly lovely in the soft light, that I’m sure the lecture was made more beautiful by it, and I’m so glad we did it.
I spoke to Mrs Bruot about the next program. She is all ready with her part and Mrs Chart was to call Miss MacEbriglet this morning to get her in line
I arranged to have your candle sticks sent down to your house last night Mrs Raymond brought hers also. We must have had all of 30 candles so you know it was pretty.
We are so glad to know you are feeling better. I think you couldnot [sic] [illegible] do otherwise in such a lovely place. Trust you will enjoy it all immensely.
I am Most Cordially
Martha Miller App.
