Page 1 [Letterhead] The Waldorf-Astoria, New York 5/8 1907 My dearest Irene – When I wrote from St. Ignace, I forgot to tell you that I have arranged with your grandmother for the use of the old home Dec. 19 and 21, when we are going to fix it up and give two parties. The first for old and young, and the second for you and Frederic-young folks. The 19th Dec comes on Thursday and I am wondering whether your school closes in time so that you can get home for the first party. I had to take these dates to get a Cleveland orchestra. – I went aboard the Baltic this morning to inspect the rooms we will occupy on her next trip and found them to be excellently fitted for comfortable Page 2 travel, being some larger than those on the Northwest. Our location is as far forward on the Promenade deck as we could get, but notwithstanding this we will be 180 feet from the bow. When I looked down the Promenade deck and saw its length 725 ft. the Northwest became very small in my mind's eye. I hope you are getting some outdoor riding these sunny days, which I know you will enjoy— With much love Your Papa I met Mr. North on the st [sic] car this morning. He says Margery wants to go to Mackinac this summer.
