A 2025.12.b1.f12.1Description
Letterhead says "Carlton Hotel, Pall Mall, London" in the top right corner with telephone number and telegraphic address in the top left corner.
The writer is letting Gertrude know that the Countess of Lytton will be letting out her manor home, Knebworth, and he would like to know if Gertrude would be interested in coming to stay in the home. He mentions having been at Knebworth himself and says that many of Gertrude's friends would be familiar with the home. He describes its distance from London and explains easy methods of travel. He says he hopes Gertrude will be over in England in the spring or summer. He then talks about some contracts with Russia, asks after F.A.'s proposal for a cartridge factory and solid rubber tires. He says an expert from the Romanian (spelled wrong in letter) Government has sailed to America to inspect his factories. He says he doesn't think warfare will be over in Europe soon. Then he mentions that he sees the Grand Duke Michael often and is prepared to do business with Russia.
Handwritten at the bottom of the page be lists several people he recently had lunch and tea with, including Princess Clementine of Belgium and Duchess of [illegible].Subject Person/Organization
