Dear Irene, --
I’d like to be writing you a “Happy Birthday To You” letter, but in view of your concern for Father’s health, I’ll just touch on some things I’d be glad to discuss with you in person some time if you think you could get any benefit from such a discussion.
1st It would have been a mistake to have let Dr. Bliss read that letter you wrote to him.
2nd You can’t expect Mrs. Daily to re-hire a cook she has dismissed.
3rd You can’t expect to keep Mrs. Daily as housekeeper if she finds that Stan Hywet is being run by remote control from Bronxville.
Father’s recovery is slow, but he is making progress each day. Sorry this can’t be a nice newsy letter, free of complications, but unfortunately, the complications are very real and serious.
