Description

Unframed oil on canvas painting of an unknown woman sitting with an open book in her lap. She is in blue robes over a white underdress. Transparent veil with gold trim covers hair and lays across both shoulders. Both hands rest gently on the pages of the book. The model is looking directly at the artist. The background shows mountainous terrain with a river running through the middle. Leafy trees stand directly behind the subject. Painting is either unsigned or it was in the damaged corner.
