Female figure with back to camera at right side of image, head not included in photo, wearing a floral print skirt and dark sweater, holding a plate in left hand, may be serving from wood table which has pot and other materials on it. To left side of table is Gertrude Seiberling, standing and looking away from camera, wearing light colored sweater, dark hat with feather plume in it, appears to hold a cup and a plate in hands. Man (Mick, caretaker) in dark sweater and hat with white shirt and dark tie stands beyond Mrs. Seiberling to the right. Grassy area surrounds, with body of water visible beyond and land at other side. Outdoor picnic Hessel 1942. Modern print given to Stan Hywet by Eleanor Rastetter, Morgantown, W. Va., daughter of Nellie Koger, the Seiberling cook, who traveled to Hessel with the Seiberlings in the summer of 1942 and was permitted to bring her two children with her, Eleanor and Jimmy. Eleanor celebrated her 13th birthday that summer in Hessel.Created By
