Mrs. Gertrude Seiberling seated on rustic bench made of timbers, placed at center of image, plaid throw over the back of settee/bench; Mrs. Seiberling wearing dark pleated skirt, button down sweater, dark hat, and appears to be eating from a plate she holds in her right hand. A couple seated to the left, possibly on ground or on lower bench: Willard [eating] at far left with dark coat or jacket on, light hair; Mary next to him eating from a plate on her lap, dark top, bare legs and white headband. At left foreground, female figure seated on grass with back to camera, long dark hair and dark attire. Woods behind group. Outdoor picnic. Handwritten on the back in ink "Mrs. Seiberling/ maybe Mr. & Mrs./ Willard/ 1942".

Modern print given to Stan Hywet by Eleanor Rastetter, Morgantown, w. Va., daughter of Nellie Koger, the Seiberling cook, who traveled to Hessel with the Seiberling's in the summer of 1942 and was permitted to bring her two children with her, Eleanor and Jimmy. Eleanor celebrated her 13th birthday that summer in Hessel.
