Note
It has always been believed that this painting was exhibited in 1937 - Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D.C., Fifteenth Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting, however the exhibition catalog from that show does not list Gertrude's name. (Purchased by Julie Frey 2018 off used book site) Possible she sent it for consideration but it was not selected by jury for exhibition.
