Texas Centennial Pabst cachet First Day Cover autographed by "Walter F. Woodul / Lieut Gov of Texas" and "Chas F. Anderson" Addressed to "Capt. Wilfred Wilson / 1711 Hemphill St. / Fort Worth Texas."

Context

Walter Woodul (Lieutenant Governor of Texas) served as the chairman of the Texas Centennial. Charles F. Anderson, a postal veteran and “traveling mechanician” who specialized in canceling first-day covers, would travel around the country stamping mail at various official United States Post Office Department events; especially First Day ceremonies. From 1934 to 1935, he served as the Postmaster of Little America, sent mid-year to rescue the philatelic mail effort in Antarctica. He was in the Englehardt & Wilson's Stamp Shop on Saturday, February 29, 1936. “Captain" Wilfred Wilson owned a philatelic shop in Fort Worth, Texas after serving as the first Director of the University of Michigan Band.
