ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Born in Vancouver, B.C., Brent Heighton is a Canadian artist known for his floral and landscape paintings. He works in watercolour, oil and acrylic depicting scenes from Europe, Mexico, and the scenery of B.C. in an impressionistic style. Inspired by his high school art teacher in Ontario, he moved to Ottawa, continuing to paint in his spare time and enrolled in arts courses at Algonquin College. In 1976 he moved back to Vancouver in 1976, and enrolled at Douglas College in graphic arts and fine arts. Heighton had a brief career in the commercial art field and then, after attending a number of art workshops such as “The Saltspring Seminar” sponsored by the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Federation Gallery, he made the decision to work as a fine art painter.
Heighton has now been painting full-time for over 42 years. His watercolours, acrylics and oils are held in corporate and private collections in over 30 countries of the world. Heighton has had exhibitions in New York, Tokyo, Germany, Belgium, Holland, many parts of the U.S. , and most recently Mexico, and his work has won him numerous awards throughout Canada and the U.S. He has taught workshops in Canada and the United States and San Miguel de Allende in Mexico.
