Notes

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Doris Leedham Hobbs was a member of the Canadian Women's Press Club Vancouver Island Branch, and it appears she was a reporter for the Saanich Star in the 1950s and 1960s. She was a member of the Island Arts and Craft Society and the Victoria Sketch Club. While further research is needed, according to information on this painting, Hobbs studied with artist Robert Morley, RBA (1857-1941), presumably in London, England, and with artist Will Menelaws (1877-1966), born in Scotland and active in the Victoria arts community from 1913 until his move to Port Angeles, Washington in 1964.
