Lantzville began as a coal mining settlement in the 1800s. Once known only as part of Nanoose, when coal was originally found, Lantzville was known as Grant's Mine. In 1920, an American company bought the mine and property from Mr. Grant. Mr. Lantz was one of the directors of the American company and the area became known as Lantzville. The beaches along Lantzville’s waterfront are reportedly always changing as a result of the dynamic process of “erosion” and “deposition” caused by tides, waves and longshore currents.Made/Created
