ARTIST STATEMENT “I have painted all my life, even while teaching English and Math in the 1960s. And like a musician who plays many instruments, I paint in many different styles with watercolours or acrylics. Creativity is addictive! I paint with passion and I feel privileged to share and give joy with my works to so many. I also paint with our four granddaughters every chance I get.” ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Born in Berlin, Germany, Imke Pearson is a Canadian artist known for her watercolours, and glass painting and staining. She immigrated to Canada in 1952, working on the West Coast and became a listed Canadian artist in 1977. Pearson has been active in the arts community in Greater Victoria, creating panels and commissioned stained glass windows for thirty years (1976-2006). She has exhibited at the Sooke Fine Art Show, demonstrated at the Moss Street Paint-In, and participated in juried shows as an active member of the Island Illustrators Society and the Federation of Canadian Artists. In 2002, she became a founding member of the Oak Bay Community Artists Society and she participates in the bi-annual Oak Bay Studio Tours.
