ARTIST STATEMENT “It is the effects of light that continue to fuel my creativity. I delight in the ever-changing palette before me. The unceasing diversity of nature excites me, inspires me and will forever be my interpretive challenge." ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Born in Manitoba, Kathryn Amisson is a Canadian artist recognized for her landscape paintings celebrating the beauty of the West Coast and her Prairie roots, and that of wide open spaces. Amisson moved with her family to the West Coast as a youngster, and after high school graduation in Victoria, attended the Alberta School of Art for a short time. Mainly self-taught, she has been painting full time since 1978, originally working in pastel, now in acrylic on canvas. Beginning mostly as a representational artist, she now paints in a more Abstract style and has covered a range of subjects. She has enjoyed over 20 years as one of the "Artists in Residence" at “Painters at Painter’s Lodge” in Campbell River, B.C.
