ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Born in Montréal, Québec, Jesi Keane Barron is a Canadian plein air and studio artist specializing in sea views. In the 1940s she attended museum art classes run by Canadian Group of Seven artist Arthur Lismer (1885-1969) through the Art Association of Montréal at the Montréal Museum of Fine Art School of Art and Design. She later moved to Victoria, B.C. with her family where she continued her interest in the arts. She designed costumes for the Victoria Theatre Guild, later studying at the Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts (now the Emily Carr University of Art and Design).
She married artist Syd Barron (1917-2006), living in Victoria and later Coombs, where they opened their own studio and gallery. Barron continues to draw and paint in many mediums, preferably outdoors by the ocean depicting seashores and seascapes. She has painted and exhibited in Cornwall, Toronto, Deep River, Vancouver, Victoria and many other locales on Vancouver Island. She is a member of the Canadian Plein Air Painting Group.
