ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Born in Cheshire, England, Ethel (Annie) Armine Leather moved to Vancouver Island ca. 1889 and she became noted as a “pioneer” in the Cowichan, B.C. area. Leather painted all her life and was also skilled in china repair. She exhibited with the Island Arts and Crafts Society for over 25 years from 1914 to 1941, and at the Vancouver Exhibition in 1926. She was also a member of the Victoria Sketch Club. She died in Duncan at the age of 95.
