Painting This landscape depicts a morning seaward view between islands is from Agate Beach in Naikoon Provincial Park at the northeast tip of Graham Island, Haida Gwaii, B.C. meaning "Islands of the Haida people". The painting is a light-filled Impressionist scene with a huge sky, mountains in the distance, shoreline and waterscape with derelict docks on the right.

Naikoon Provincial Park is the largest the the provincial parks, and Graham Island is the largest island of the Haida Gwaii (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands) archipelago, some 150 miles long located 90 miles off the northwest B.C. coast. Haida Gwaii is known for its remote and ancient rain forests, gorgeous shoreline, diverse wildlife, and its rich Haida culture and heritage.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Born in Montréal, Québec, Jesi Keane Barron is a Canadian plein air and studio artist specializing in sea views. In the 1940s she attended museum art classes run by Group of Seven artist Arthur Lismer (1885-1969) through the Art Association of Montréal at the Montréal Museum of Fine Art School of Art and Design. She later moved to Victoria, B.C. with her family where she continued her interest in the arts. She designed costumes for the Victoria Theatre Guild, later studying at the Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts (now the Emily Carr University of Art and Design). She married artist Syd Barron (1917-2006), living in Victoria and later Coombs, where they opened their own studio and gallery. Barron continues to draw and paint in many mediums, preferably outdoors by the ocean depicting seashores and seascapes. She has painted and exhibited in Cornwall, Toronto, Deep River, Vancouver, Victoria and many other locales on Vancouver Island. She is a member of the Canadian Plein Air Painting Group.
