ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Born in Victoria, B.C., Roy Campbell Denny grew up near Gonzales Bay enjoying childhood beach adventures and growing his love of the sea. He served as Lieutenant Commander in the navy on Corvettes and Fairmiles on the North Atlantic convoys in World War II. After the war he returned to work in the Victoria family-owned Standard Furniture business, begun by his father in 1909.
On retirement, Denny took up watercolour painting, most often with a focus on boats and seascapes. A skilled watercolourist, he was very active in the arts community in many ways, including the Island Arts and Crafts Society and the Victoria Sketch Club. Denny was still exhibiting and selling his art at age 100.
