ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Born in The Beach, Toronto, Clark Conklin Cunningham was a Canadian artist best known for his portrait and landscape work. He attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and the Art Students League of New York City founded by and for artists in 1875. Cunningham painted many notables and dignitaries. His greatest achievement was a portrait of the Governor General of Canada, Georges Vanier, the first French-Canadian to hold this post (1959-1967). He is presumed to have lived on the west coast at some point, and he was a member of the Island Arts and Crafts Society as well as the Victoria Sketch Club.Inscription/Signature/Marks
