This photograph depicts a person entering Serenity Hall, a building that used to be on S. Boulevard in Idaho Falls, ID. After serving as the First Christian Church for over 40 years, the building was sold to the city in 1963 and held Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings. Given the anonymity present in the composition of the photograph, where the person entering the building has their back to the camera, it is likely that they were going to attend an AA or NA meeting. Anonymity is also present in the editing style of the photograph, which leans into the shadows and blurriness of the original shot, emphasizing a key component of the recovery and safety of those who attend AA and NA meetings.
