This work was created by students in 2014 as part of the Community Engagement through the Arts (CETA) class taught by professors Kurt Gohde and Kremena Todorova. The log cabin represents the first school for Black people in Lexington. The red and white squares were created using design from fences and manhole covers in the North Lexington neighborhood reinforcing place in the work. It was made from pieces of paper glued to the wall with a wheat glue. This installation piece was removed in the Winter semester of 2020.Artwork Details
