Portrait of Hamilton Stockwell who was a medical student at Transylvania in 1835. Oval portrat in a rectangular frame. Transylvania holds his medical thesis entitled Moxa which is available online. A picture of the reverse of the canvas was given to the library by the donor. It is a bit blury but looks like it says "Copies after Elliott. By G. E. Gridland 1857 Cincinnati Ohio." The portrait underwent some restoration in the mid 1980s and the back is currently covered in another canvas. There also appears to be a Goupil & Cie stamp on the back of the old canvas.Artwork Details
