Two small fragments of plain weave wool cloth, from the Roman site at Newstead (Trimontium), 2nd century AD

Use

Thread woven together would be used to make textiles.

Context

Thread is very delicate, and due to its organic nature, it vary rarely survives over long periods of time. Finding thread bundles allows for an in-depth look into the weaving process that took place at Trimontium.
