The spear would have been used as a weapon, and could have either been carried by the guards of the fort, or soldiers engaging in long range combat.Context
Heads of spears were found throughout the fort. Most were found on the surface and in poor condition, however the few that were found in pits were much better preserved. Some of the spear heads found still had traces of wood attached to the joining section, and were identified to be hazel wood. There were two styles of spear heads found, ones for throwing, and ones for thrusting.Collection
