El Approvisionamiento de Grano Ejército en el Occidente del Imperio Romano (The Provisioning of Army Grain in the Western Roman Empire)Description
Horrea Militaria offers new information on this subject and provides the keys to better understanding the soldier's diet and the infrastructure and construction associated with military supply, from the Republican phase to the late Imperial period. For the analysis of the supply of grain to the army, the main archaeological evidence preserved are the warehouses and granaries (Horrea). This work focuses on an essential aspect of the expansion and consolidation of the Roman Empire, since the provision of grain was one of the economic keys that allowed Roman generals to maintain the morale of their armies high with foods to which they were accustomed and became the driving force that drove the spirit and fervour of the troops, thus achieving their effectiveness in battle and their loyalty in times of peace.Lexicon
