Name/Title

Roman Pottery from the Colonia 2: General Accident and Rougier St.

Secondary Title

The Archaeology of York, Volume 16: The Pottery

Description

Roman Pottery from the Colonia 2 reports on two sites in the heart of the Roman town where large quantities of pottery were found. The report allows some of the thoughts put forward in AY 16/2 to be re-examined and also provide additional information on the local industry and on the trade in pottery from elsewhere. Discussion of the pottery is preceded by summaries of the archaeological information provided by site directors N.F. Pearson and Patrick Ottaway. The amphorae from the two sites are considered in a separate report as part of a general summary of amphorae from York sites by Dr D .F. Williams (pp.342-62).
