Lead pots like these were used as containers for cosmetics, creams and medicines. Tweezers were used to care for body hair. Plucked eyebrows were fashionable among women. Finding items like these, along with children’s shoes, indicates there were women and children at the fort. Senior officers were allowed to have family with them. The families of the ordinary soldiers probably lived in the annexes next to the fort.
