Curved, four-sided portion of leather with stitch marks along three sides and parallel rows of similar marks, from the Roman site at Newstead (Trimontium), 80 - 180 AD

May have been part of a bag or clothing

Context

The Roman army in Britain was involved in the preparation of leather and the manufacture of leather objects. Evidence of leather working has survived at Catterick and Vindolanda in northern England, including specialized tools for preparing hides.
