Nose band from the Roman site at Newstead (Trimontium)

Use

Noseband are used to to stabilize the bit, so it remains straight and quiet in the mouth.

Context

Trimontium was predominately a cavalry fort, and as such a large number of horse equipment has been recovered. It may have also been used for oxen.
