Dalmatia

Name/Title

Dalmatia

Description

Dalmatia is part of the History of the Provinces of the Roman Empire that deals with the history and archaeology of the provinces of the Roman Empire on a scale which has not been attempted for many years and for which there is a definite need. Each volume of the series will be in the hands of a distinguished scholar, and will be written on a uniform plan, covering the pre-Roman period, Roman conquest and organisation, and, as the central theme, the process of romanisation as seen in the reaction between Roman and non-Roman elements. The book provides an overview of the history of this region on a long-term basis, taking into account the relations between Romans and indigenous people, as well as the modalities of interaction with the Greek world, and covers administrative, military, cultural, economic, social and urban development issues.
