This report has been written by Mr S D Boyle (Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland) and Or L Macinnes (Historic Scotland) and edited by Dr Macinnes and Mr J B Stevenson. Tt is based on an analysis of existing archaeological records by Mr Boyle and Mr P McKeague combined with a Historic Landuse Assessment conducted by Ms L Dyson Bruce. Or D J Breeze, Dr P J Dixon, Ms S Govan (Historic Scotland) Mr S P Halliday, Dr R Hingley (Historic Scotland) and
Mr R J Mercer provided additional advice during the project. The maps have been prepared by Ms G L Brown. Aerial photographs were taken by Mr R M Adam and additional photographic services have been provided by Mr D Smart. Although this has been principally a desktop project, limited fieldwork was undertaken by Mr Boyle, Mr D C Cowley, Ms Oyson Bruce, Mr Halliday and Mr McKeague, with aerial reconnaissance by Mr K Brophy, Ms M M Brown, Mr CowleY' and Ms Dyson Bruce.
