Studien zu Paraderüstungensteilen und anderend verzeiten Waffen der römischen Kaiserzeit (Studies on Parade Armour Pieces and other Historical Weapons of the Roman Imperial Period)
Description
Number 12 of Kölner Studien zur Archäologie der römischen Provinzen (Cologne Studies on the Archaeology of the Roman Provinces) series of publications. The find category of “parade armour” described by Drexel in 1924 comprises more than 500 specimens today. For the first time, these specimens have been compiled in a catalogue including decorated helmets, masks, chanfrons, greaves, medallions/shield bosses, and breastplates. Although image representations and written texts are rare and often ambiguous, the finds provide a comprehensive insight into the matter.
