Hook-and-eye fastener
Hook and eyes are known to fasten clothing. Hook and eyes became popular because they were not as visible as other forms of fastening clothes. Artisans: jewelers, clockmakers and pin makers sold hook and eyes in the 17th century.
Hooks were made with rounded brass wire that is flattened in the late 1700's, and rounded tin wire hook and eyes were made in the 18th century.
