Letter - Pvt. John C. Schmalzried to Arthur Haupert (Dec. 21, 1942) Envelope is basic white with a return address of: Pvt. John C. Schmalzried Battery A. 920 FA Bn Addressed to: Arthur Haupert Urbana Indiana On the left side of the envelope is a blue stamped eagle with a round circle behind it and three stars above it. There is no stamp in the top right but does have an ink stamp reading: BUY WAR SAVINGS BONDS and STAMPS. Over this ink stamp is the word "Free". Postmark is San Antonio, Texas; Dec.22, 1943; 9:00PM The letter is one page, unlined stationary with a blue header showing an army eagle. Letter is written on one side of the page.
