Anthony was born on July 2, 1921 to Mary and Michael Shevokis of 198 Second Street, Port Carbon Pennsylvania. He entered into active service on December 12, 1942 at Fort Meade, Maryland.
Anthony served overseas from September 29, 1944 until January 17, 1946 with Company B, 393rd Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. It is likely that he recieved his “baptism of fire” at the Battle of the Bulge.
The 99th received battle star credits for the following:
Rhineland
Ardennes-Alsace
Central Europe
Private First Class Anthony Shevokis survived the war and was discharged on January 21, 1946 at Fort Indiantown Gap. He was subsequently buried at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on May 5, 1997.Made/Created
