FLYNT
PFAFFTOWN —Sandy Richard Flynt April 16, 1916 - Dec. 22, 2013
Sandy Richard Flynt 97 passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Beacon Place with Hospice of Greensboro. Richard ("Dick") Flynt was born April 16, 1916. He was the son of the late George W. Flynt and Mamie Scott Flynt. He was preceded in death by his four siblings; Hoke, George, Mike and James Flynt. Richard was married for over fifty years to Catherine Covington Flynt, who passed away in 2006. Richard is survived by his son John Irvin Flynt, daughter-in-law Crystal of Greensboro and two grandsons John Richard Flynt of Raleigh and Presley Irvin Flynt of Atlanta Ga. Richard was a graduate of UNC-CH in 1938. During his time at the University, Richard played coronet in the Tar Heel marching band. Richard was a Veteran of Military Service in the Army, during WW II and was honorably discharged after the war with the rank of Lieutenant. He was awarded the Bronze Star during the war. Richard was a faithful member of Pfafftown Christian Church for 85 yrs. One of his great joys during his lifetime was singing in the church's choir. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Pfafftown Christian Church January 18th at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends, following the Memorial Service, at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pfafftown Christian Church (3323 Transou Rd.; Pfafftown, NC 27040) or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (2500 Summit Ave.; Greensboro, NC 27405).
