Description

Sergeant Tech 4th Grade Palmer L. Lutz of Red Lion, Pennsylvania. Palmer was listed in the main engine room as one of sixty two people of the Leo Fire Company serving in the Armed Services. Before enlisting in the US Army, Palmer Lutz was employed by the local post office as an assistant mail carrier. He enlisted in September 16, 1943 completing his basic training at Camp Lee, Virginia. He was transferred to West Chester, Pa in November of 1943 and eventually Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was shipped overseas to Scotland, landing in England and pushing forward during the invasion of France with the 172nd Army Postal Unit-7th Army. Sgt. Lutz was credited with overseas service in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe from February 27, 1944 until December 11, 1945. He received the Army Good Conduct Medal, ETO ribbon with 3 stars and the WWII Victory medal.
