Name/Title

.45 cal ACP Cartridges (2) on Clip

Entry/Object ID

Description

Two (2) .45 ACP cartridges in partial speedloading clip.

Use

The .45 cal round is a pistol round. These two cartridges are attached to pieces of a "half-moon" speed loader -- the full load would have been three (3) cartridges, and two of these would fully load one six-shot pistol. The M1921 Thompson submachine gun was also chambered for this round, and represents most instances of this caliber elsewhere in the battlefield.

Context

Clips like this were developed in 1917, US Army issued preloaded clips for a time during World War 1.
