Description

The first Church of the Red Rocks scrapbook covers events from 1959 – 1975, including news articles, photos and documents. It includes the minutes of the first meetings in 1959 where plans were being explored to expand Wayside Chapel and meetings in 1960 as plans were changed to break away from Wayside Chapel to form the Church of the Red Rocks, fundraising for the new church building and finally the “Service of Entry” on June 7, 1964. There are news clippings about the pastors who served during this period, Rev. William F. Keeney, Rev. Paul Babbitt, Dr. Avery, and Rev. Alice Snow. The church added the First Christmon Tree, “stained-glass” Christmas windows, the creation of the stained-glass sanctuary lights and the installation of a pipe organ.
